The Baggies in the Tavern found it laughable that West Bromwich Albion gaffer, Alan Pardew, has reinstated Jonny Evans as captain for the home game this Saturday against Huddersfield. The central defender from Northern Ireland was stripped of the captain’s armband after he reportedly stole a taxi whilst out with three other West Brom players during the clubs warm weather training camp in Barcelona.
Alan Pardew has suffered a lot of criticism in the last few months, as his side sit rock bottom of the Premier League table seven points adrift of safety, and took the club on a warm weather training camp last week in an attempt to improve the side’s fortunes on the pitch. However, it couldn’t have gone much worse as after a boozy night out four West Brom players, including Jonny Evans, are said to have stolen a taxi at 5:30am to drive back to the team’s hotel.
Since the incident in Spain, West Brom played at home to Southampton in the 5th round of the FA Cup in a 2-1 loss. Evans featured in the game but had been stripped of the captain’s armband, Gareth McAuley instead led the line at the Hawthorns. However Evans isn’t to go without the armband too long as Pardew has stated that Evans will be captain for the crucial game in the relegation battle against Huddersfield on Saturday.
With that in mind, here’s a look at the reaction.
