Leeds confirm departure of Marcus Antonsson

Leeds United have endured a tough transfer window this summer and Marcelo Bielsa will be hoping things can only get better as the new season fast approaches.

The Argentine has struggled to get a number of the deals he would like to have over the line and will be concerned that he has not got the squad he wants for the upcoming Championship campaign in place just yet.

Despite the Whites inability to get players into Elland Road, the club has been successful in reducing the players they deem deadweight and look to have offloaded another man that found his time in Yorkshire difficult.

The club’s official website has confirmed that Marcus Antonsson has completed a move to Malmo for an undisclosed fee. The Swede joined Leeds in 2016, however, he found it difficult to establish himself in England and was subsequently loaned out to Blackburn Rovers last season.

The striker flourished with the Ewood Park outfit as they won League One, however, he was not considered part of Bielsa’s plans and was given the go-ahead to find a new club.

The Verdict:

The move is not a surprising one as he has been rumoured with a departure from Elland Road for the majority of the summer, as well as during his time on loan at Blackburn.

The Swede looked promising during the early parts of his career, however, he struggled with Championship football and Bielsa obviously did not deem him to be worthy of being in his plans for the upcoming campaign.
