Leeds United have not had the best of times when it comes to injury concerns and it does not appear to have gotten any better for them.
Luke Ayling had to be forced off in the first half of their controversial draw against Nottingham Forest with an apparent knee injury and the club have confirmed that the news is not good.
It is just the latest setback to Ayling, who had a strong start to the campaign, following a serious ankle injury he had in the second half of last season, missing the majority of the year.
Although it is believed the injury could have been worse than it is, it will have come as a blow to Marcelo Bielsa and Leeds as they look to continue their charge for a place in next season’s Premier League.
The defender has been a key performer for the side this season under the Argentine and it is likely he will not return to action until 2019, although there is always room for him to make a return during the festive period.
The injury is not the first long-term one that Bielsa and Leeds have had to deal with this season, but his absence last season did not do them any favours, so they will be hopeful that they will be able to cope with it better this time around.
