Leeds were back in action yesterday after yet another international break, and whilst they left it late to beat Lee Johnson’s Bristol City, they secured the three points with goals from Kemar Roofe and Pablo Hernandez after Josh Brownhill was sent off for the away side. However, the champagne moment of the night came from Samu Saiz, who expertly set up Hernandez’s goal.
Spanish magic. A dreamy reverse pass from Saiz, in behind the defence who move too late and leave Hernandez free. He glides a header over Maenpaa. Game over. 2-0 on 87 mins. #lufc

When on song, there isn’t a side in the Championship who can deal with Leeds United. Having the likes of Roofe, Saiz and Hernandez running riot with their creativity and goalscoring is truly a sight to behold, and yesterday, despite a rocky start until the red card, they showed just what they were all about as they peppered the Bristol City goal with an impressive 20 shots as they asserted their dominance.
It was a tough test for the Whites against Bristol City, who are no mugs in the Championship, although now they’ve got the three points their attention will be turned to their next match, a Tuesday night clash against Reading at Elland Road. The struggling side shouldn’t be a match for Marcelo Bielsa’s side, especially with the way that Saiz performed off the bench yesterday. If the Spaniard can get back to his creative best then he’ll provide them with the extra bit of talent that they’ve lacked at times this season as they aim for promotion to the Premier League.

Saiz is different class

Saiz is such an effective player to bring off the bench post half time & the opposition are slightly slower. We seem to get progessively more offensive throughout games, so around 60 is when we perfectly suit him. When he's starting every game they'll plan to double-mark him too.

We need more from Saiz. He is as talented as any player in the Championship.

The Whites loved having Saiz back to his best and will hope he can only carry on improving in the coming weeks.
