This summer has been a tough one for Leeds fans. The club has made very few signings and during their pre-season so far the squad has looked thin. However, Marcelo Bielsa appears to be nearing the first permanent deal of the summer in Wolves’ full-back Barry Douglas, according to Phil Hay on Twitter.
The word from Wolverhampton this morning is that Leeds United have had a bid accepted for Wolves left-back Barry Douglas. Waiting for clarification at this end. #lufc

So far, The Whites have completed just two signings this summer, both of them coming in from Chelsea on-loan. Lewis Baker and Jamal Blackman could now be joined by Douglas though, who would be a great coup for the club. The industrious left-sided defender was incredible for Wolverhampton Wanderers last season as he bagged himself 14 assist and five goals in 39 Championship appearances, despite playing at left-back.
If the 28-year-old Scottish defender can get similar numbers for Bielsa and co at Leeds this season then there’s no doubt that the Elland Road faithful will be cheering on a promotion chasing side for the campaign. Hopefully, Leeds will be looking to bring in another couple of players as well as Douglas in the closing weeks of the window as the club prepares to dive headfirst into another long, draining Championship season.

Just from the handful of tweets above it’s clear for all to see that the fans are buzzing with the links to Douglas, who was the best left-back in the Championship last season.
