Leeds fans on Twitter losing sleep over lack of defensive depth

Being a Leeds fan has been much more enjoyable over the last few weeks as Marcelo Bielsa has reminded the fans what it’s like to be a successful side. There is one weakness of the squad at the moment though, a lack of depth at centre-back. An article by Phil Hay in the Yorkshire Evening Post has asked the fans what they want and the answer is pretty resounding.

Nearly every response from the fans was a call for a new centre-back to be introduced at the club. The Whites still have a week to bring in any loan deals before the window closes for good until January. Most supporters are desperate to tie up some last minute loans or even bring in a free agent or two. Both John Terry and Robert Huth are available as free agents whilst a number of young Premier League centre-backs could be loan options.

It’s yet to be seen how Marcelo Bielsa will act in the last week of the window and it seems like he’s pretty laid back about his squad depth at the moment. The Argentine has previously worked with very thin squads and it seems like he’s implementing that at Elland Road as he’s seen lots of young players and fringe men leave the club on loans and permanent deals and only a handful of new faces have come in the other way.

The fans are desperate for some cover at centre-back and will be hoping Bielsa acts in the nex few days.
