Leeds fans on Twitter loved seeing Vieira captain the club yesterday

Leeds United’s pre-season rumbled on yesterday evening when the very thin squad travelled to Bootham Crescent to face York City in a friendly fixture. The final score was 1-1 and whilst the result was disappointing, no one was disappointed when they realised that Ronaldo Vieira would e captaining The Whites.

The game was a big opportunity for Vieira to Marcelo Bielsa what he’s capable of as he was thrown the captain’s armband on his 20th birthday. Bielsa will have been impressed with what Vieira brought to the table during the match and whilst the club are strapped for players considering their lack of signings, it’s lads like Vieira who will be stepping up throughout the season to fill in and play their part.

At the age of just 20, the central-midfielder has already racked up over 60 Championship appearances, scored his first goal in the division and become a regular feature, having made 28 appearances for the club last season alone. If the Whites do go on to challenge for promotion under Bielsa this season, it’s likely that their young midfielder will be one of their key players. Vieira has the ability to dictate play and Bielsa will no doubt find a way to get the best out of him, as he has done with many players before him.

As you can see, the fans are all delighted for their midfielder to be given the armband and can’t wait to see Vieira in competitive action once the season starts.
