A large number of players have had their form massively change under Marcelo Bielsa and Gaetano Berardi is one of those, with his change of position from right-back to centre-back one of the reasons that the fans have been so shocked with his recent displays.
Bielsa talking about Berardi. Says he feels Berardi can play in any defensive position and that he's been happy with his performances at centre-back so far. #lufc

Berardi has shown that he’s more than capable of cutting it in the Championship as a central defender and he’s thrived under Bielsaball, a term that the Whites have coined for Marcelo Bielsa’s exciting brand of passing football. It just seems incredible that someone like Berardi, who got send off three times last season playing at right-back, can have such an improvement in his game by moving into the middle and having a few months with his new gaffer.
The one criticism of Leeds under Bielsa that the fans had was that the squad seemed awfully thin and they would be in serious trouble later in the season if suspensions and injuries racked up. However, it looks like the 63-year-old plans to counter that issue with the versatility of his squad. He’s claimed that Berardi can be used anywhere at the back and he’s not the only one to be used in multiple positions, with Kalvin Phillips and Kemar Roofe also being used in multiple positions on the pitch.

He’s been great like a brick wall and hasn’t lost his head

I wrote him off, wrongly. I just didn’t think he had the temperament. I remember laughing when Bielsa said he was going to use him.

He’s done a good job, probably his performances have been overshadowed by others in the team.

Been brilliant so far long may it continue

Like Berardi, he’s made a few mistakes in the past but what defender doesn’t?! Think he’s class!

The fans have been loving watching Berardi at work this season and will be hoping his current form is long-lived.
