Leeds surprised by PEC Zwolle’s offer to pay Ouasim Bouy’s wages

Leeds United managed to trim their squad right down this summer with a number of players departing from Elland Road, however, there was one departure the club were even surprised with.

According to a report by the Yorkshire Evening Post, the Whites were surprised to find that PEC Zwolle were prepared to pay Ouasim Bouy’s full wages.

The midfielder, who arrived from Juventus in last summer on a four-year deal, has failed to even get on the pitch for Leeds during his time at the club and was not even thought to have been ever challenging for a first-team spot.

The 25-year-old spent the first half of the season with Cultural Leonesa in Spain before returning back to Yorkshire.

It is thought that Bielsa’s predecessors had seen very little in him in terms of enthusiasm and ambition, so it may not be a surprise that the Argentine had wanted him gone from Thorp Arch this summer.

The Verdict:

Things really have not worked out for Bouy at Leeds and it is no surprise that he had left the club.

However, Leeds will have been delighted to have been able to get his wages covered by PEC Zwolle during his time with the Eredivisie outfit as it means they have indirectly offloaded him from their books.

The Whites will be hoping the £450k-rated player, as per Transfermarkt, can rediscover himself in Holland, so they can look to offload him permanently next summer.
