A win will be all the more vital for Leeds United on Saturday when they travel to Bristol City following Norwich City’s victory against Swansea City on Friday night.
A five-point gap currently sits between the two sides at the top of the Championship, whilst a defeat could see the Whites slip out of the automatic promotion spots should Sheffield United record a win in their early fixture against Rotherham United.
Bristol City will provide Marcelo Bielsa’s side with a tough test on Saturday, as the Robins are fighting for a playoff spot themselves, although their form has dipped in recent weeks which could give the Whites an advantage.
What’s the News?
According to the club’s official website, Leeds will go with an unchanged side once again for the trip to Ashton Gate, following their impressive thumping of West Bromwich Albion last week.
That does mean Gaetano Berardi and Barry Douglas will look to continue their pursuits of returning to the first-team from the bench after both recovered from spells on the sidelines.
Jack Clarke will miss the game, however, there is some good news as the teenager is expected to return to action for the developmental side next week following his bout with illness, per Sky Sports.
With an away trip to Reading and then a home derby against promotion rivals Sheffield United coming up in the space of a week, Leeds will now be under pressure to pick up the three points on Saturday following Norwich’s win against Swansea on Friday night and will need to be at their very best to ensure they do so.
The fact that Bielsa is able to name the same side that started the game against West Brom last week will bode well for the Whites and could provide them with an advantage over the Robins as they will be able to take some of the confidence and momentum brought with them from that game to Aston Gate.
The news that Clarke is also edging ever closer to fitness and a return will also be encouraging for the Elland Road outfit in the run-up to the final few matches of the Championship season as he has been impressive with his performances.
The teenager has put in a number of Man of the Match performances already since breaking into the first-team and has come up with a number of important contributions that could help Leeds finally make their long-awaited return to the Premier League.
