Leeds team news: Forshaw and Jansson both available for Millwall clash - Championship

Elland Road is set to be full of anxious and tense fans on Saturday when Leeds United host Millwall. The Whites will know that they cannot afford any more slip-ups following their defeat to Sheffield United prior to the international break, but the prospect of playing the Lions is a daunting one.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side do not have a great record when it comes to beating the Londoners, having struggled over the years to get a victory, however, the Argentine’s squad could be in a great position to get the three points after some positive news.

What’s the News?

According to the match preview by Sky Sports, Adam Forshaw and Pontus Jansson are believed to be available for the clash.

The midfielder has missed the last eight games with a knee injury, whilst the Sweden international has managed to recover from is own issue a lot quicker than had been expected.

Leeds will be without the suspended Kiko Casilla, which will mean Bailey Peacock-Farrell will make a return to the side.

The Verdict:

There could not be a better time for Leeds to have to turn their abysmal record against Millwall than Saturday’s fixture. A loss could completely ruin their chances of achieving an automatic spot and could force them to have to go through the play-offs.

And, with the returns of Forshaw and Jansson, their chances of coming away with a positive result will have been boosted, as the duo have the ability to win the match for their side.

The Sweden international is extremely influential and has the leadership skills to be able to take the side forward, whilst his defence work is second-to-none at Elland Road and will be vitally important on the day.

Although Kalvin Phillips has been outstanding in the middle of the park alongside Mateusz Klich, Forshaw would offer some more experience and could give the Poland international the opportunity to get further forward.

There will be a concern regarding Peacock-Farrell, as the young goalkeeper has shown at times that he cannot always handle the pressure, however, it could also be the ideal moment for him to show Bielsa that he is ready to win back his place from Casilla.
