Leeds team news: Phillips unavailable as Bielsa prepares for QPR clash

Leeds United will meet Queens Park Rangers in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday as they look to advance to the next round of the tournament.

The Whites travel to Loftus Road to try and better last year’s effort in the competition when they were beaten by Newport County at the same stage.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side appear to have hit a rocky patch recently, having suffered back-to-back defeats in the Championship.

The Argentine will be desperate for his side to change that run, however, potentially bad news has emerged ahead of the cup tie.

According to the club’s official website, Kalvin Phillips will be unavailable for Leeds’ trip to the capital.

The midfielder is set to begin his three-match suspension following the straight red card he received against Nottingham Forest on New Year’s Day.

The Verdict:

Phillips absence could be a huge blow to Leeds and their chances of reaching the next round of the FA Cup.

The midfielder has been key for the Whites this season with his performances as they sit atop of the Championship table.

The 23-year-old has been so impressive with his displays for the Elland Road outfit, there has been rumours in the past that other clubs have taken an interest in signing him.
