Liam Cooper unlikely to play for Leeds again in 2018

Leeds United have not had the best time recently when it comes down to their players and injuries.

A number of Marcelo Bielsa’s stars have picked up long-term injuries this season, although the Argentine’s squad appear to have managed to cope with their absences.

However, it would appear as though the Whites have suffered another setback when it comes to time a player will spend on the treatment table.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Liam Cooper is unlikely to play again in 2018 with the knee injury he picked up against Sheffield United.

It is stated that the length of time is not yet known, however, they add that the prospect of him playing before the turn of the year appears slim.

The Verdict:

Cooper is just one of a number of injury blows Bielsa and Leeds have had to deal with this season and it will come as a huge blow if he were to miss the remainder of 2018.

The 27-year-old, who is captain of the Whites as well, has been an important figure for the team so far and with the busy run of games coming up, would have been key to their chances of remaining near the top of the Championship.

With the extent of the injury still not confirmed, there will be some hope that he can make a quicker-than-expected return, although it would seem as though the likes of Aapo Halme will need to fill in for him.
