The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern are very optimistic heading closer and closer towards the new season with Rafa Benitez hoping to build on their successful 10th place finish from last campaign.
The Magpies were in sensational form by the end of the last campaign, much to the brilliant management from Rafa Benitez. Their team isn’t necessarily filled with the greatest individuals but the players showed what a combined team effort can bring, resulting in a top 10 Premier League finish. To improve this summer, our punters suggest that Newcastle take a gamble on trying to sign Liverpool’s Alberto Moreno, who is valued at £9 million on Transfermarkt.
Much due to the unbelievable form of Andy Robertson, Moreno has struggled for game-time at Anfield and despite his 27 appearances this season, the Scotsman has fully asserted himself as their first choice left-back. Since arriving in English in 2014, Moreno has tried very hard to improve the Reds but even with a number of stand-out performances, the left-back is remembered for the mistakes he’s made.
That criticism of Moreno is unfair because he would certainly make a great signing for a club like Newcastle who are looking to strengthen. His pace and dribbling down the left-hand side would surely make him a great addition at St James’ Park and at 25-years-old, the Spaniard still has time to mature as a player under the guidance of Rafa Benitez.
Paul Dummett has been a terrific servant for the Magpies throughout the number of years he has been there but in order to improve, Alberto Moreno is the calibre of player they need to sustain their 10th place finish.
