The Leeds fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to a tweet from Lucas Radebe as he thanked Leeds United and their fans for their birthday wishes. The defender spent eleven years at the club, amassing 262 appearances and captaining the club on a number of occasions. Leeds fans would love to have a player like Radebe in the side now as their current crop of senior players have struggled to maintain their promotion push.
Thank you for the best wishes love you all

Lucas Radebe would probably get into the current Leeds United first team given their current appaling form. In almost four months of football, the club has won just two games, slipping from 6th to 14th in the Championship and killing any hopes they had of ensuring a playoff place at the end of the season. The season, like many before it is going to go down as one to forget as the dismal Yorkshire club prepares for their ninth straight year in the Championship next season.
The Leeds fan propping our bar up would jump at the chance to have a player like the South African defender as their leaky defence has been breached by even the weakest of teams in the Championship. Leeds drew 1-1 on Saturday with 23rd placed Sunderland who look set for a double relegation after only dropping into the Championship last season. With a point on the weekend, the club will have hoped to build on it in Tuesday’s visit to Preston, although Paul Heckingbottom’s side failed to capitalise on a 1-0 half-time lead as they fell to a 3-1 away defeat.
