Leeds United fans in the Transfer Tavern can’t wait for next season to begin after their new manager was finally unveiled.
Former Argentina and Chile boss, Marcelo Bielsa, was officially appointed as Paul Heckingbottom’s replacement. It marks the fifth season in a row that Leeds will start the campaign with a new manager. Signing the Argentine is a real statement of intent to their Championship rivals as they look to secure a return to the Premier League.
The 62-year-old has a fantastic reputation in world football and is viewed as a real coup by the Whites. Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, cites Bielsa as his tactical inspiration and hailed him “the best manager in the world” back in 2012. The former Athletic Bilbao boss should use his relationship with the Spaniard and look to recruit some of City’s best youngsters.
One man he should target is Citizens wonderkid – Brahim Diaz. Valued at £4.5m by Transfermarkt, the 18-year-old is considered one of City’s hottest prospects. He made 13 appearances Premier League 2 last season, scoring and assisting four. Diaz also made five appearances for the senior side to earn himself a Premier League winners medal.
Diaz is extremely technically gifted and can play out wide or centrally in the attacking midfield three. His team-mate Edward Francis compared the youngster to Eden Hazard, David Silva and even Lionel Messi.
The Spanish youngster would be an excellent addition to Bielsa’s squad.
