With the pressure firmly on to win an automatic play-off spot, not many at Leeds United will be thrilled to welcome Millwall to Elland Road at the weekend. The Lions have had the Whites’ number on a number of occasions in the past and the Yorkshire outfit have really struggled to get past them.
However, this will be the first time that Marcelo Bielsa has come up against them at home during his tenure at Elland Road and it appears he may have been handed a huge boost ahead of the meeting.
What’s the News?
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, via Leeds Live, he has revealed that Pontus Jansson would be available for the game.
“Both players are ready for Millwall,” he replied when asked about the Swede and Adam Forshaw, which is also a boost.
The enforcer had been a doubt following his knee injury in the match against Sheffield United, however, it appears that he has won the race against the clock and could still play a key role against their Championship rivals.
And, that news is something that will have delighted everyone at the club as Jansson has become an extremely important and crucial figure for the Elland Road outfit.
The 28-year-old has the leadership skills and the influential qualities that would be required for any game against Millwall, however, with what is currently at stake, his return will be further needed and something he must bring with him to the pitch.
As mentioned, Leeds’ record against the Londoners is rather dire, however, having Jansson available will put them within a good chance of finally beating them and keeping themselves in contention for an automatic promotion spot.
His return will also be encouraging as there would have been fears that he could have been unavailable for a number of other games, however, the fact that he has not missed any action will have been extremely pleasing.
