Marcelo Bielsa has not been shy in giving some of Leeds United’s academy players a chance in the first-team.
The Argentine has seen a number of them make appearances in the senior side this season and certainly appears to go by the adage of ‘if you’re good enough, then you’re old enough’.
In truth, the number of injuries that the Whites have had to deal with will have had a bigger impact on things, with it appearing as though a couple more players could make the jump in the coming weeks.
With Stuart Dallas’ latest injury setback, Gotts could be used as potential cover as he is described as a ‘dynamic’ full-back.
Nicell is thought of highly at Thorp Arch, with the central midfielder having recently penned an extension to his current deal.
Bielsa’s method of using youngsters in his first-team has paid dividends for Leeds this season as they continue their ascent for promotion to the Premier League.
The likes of Jack Clarke, Aapo Halme and Will Huffer have all made recent appearances in the senior side and have not looked out of place when being called upon.
The Elland Road’s academy is famed for being able to produce excellent youth talent, so it could just be a matter of time before Nicell and Gotts graduate from Thorp Arch and push for a starting place in the first-team.
