Marcelo Bielsa expected to make changes for Middlesbrough visit

Leeds United will meet Middlesbrough in a top of the table clash at Elland Road on Friday night and could see a number of changes be made.

The Whites suffered their first defeat under the guidance of Marcelo Bielsa in midweek against Preston North End in the League Cup and the Argentine will be looking for a positive reaction from his side.

The manager made a number of changes for the cup game and, according to a match preview by Sky Sports, he is expected to revert his side back to the same one that has been winning Championship matches convincingly.

Pontus Jansson and Kalvin Phillips could be the only players to keep their place in the side, whilst Kemar Roofe is expected to make a return to the starting XI, especially after his fine start to the campaign.

However, Patrick Bamford could then return to the substitutes bench and may not feature against his former club, in which he left for the Whites this summer.

Liam Cooper is expected to miss the clash with a hamstring injury, whilst new loan signing Izzy Brown, who joined from Chelsea, is not expected to feature for another couple of weeks.

The Verdict:

Bielsa will be looking for his side to bounce back and will feel Middlesbrough could provide them with the perfect opportunity.

Leeds will be looking to get the three points on Friday night as they look to create a little breathing space between themselves and the rest of the Championship.

The club will be hoping Roofe will be back amongst the goals, although they could look to Bamford to put his former club to the sword.
