Marcelo Bielsa pleased with Jack Clarke’s debut

Leeds United were frustrated on Saturday afternoon when they were held to a 1-1 draw against Brentford at Elland Road.

The game was not without multiple events, with a dubious penalty having been awarded, scoring a late equaliser and then the Whites were down to ten men in the final moments when Luke Ayling was sent off.

However, it was also eventful for Jack Clarke, with the youngster making his debut for the side when he replaced Stuart Dallas with 20 minutes to go.

And, it appears that he impressed Marcelo Bielsa with the way he played and admitted that he is a very good footballer.

Speaking to Leeds Live after the game, he said: “I’m particularly happy for his performance because he answered a question very difficult in the game. He didn’t have any personality problem to express himself.

“We give a lot of credit to what the academy brings to the first team, so I would like to thank the academy for all the good players they are bringing. He’s 17 and a good player. He has very good skills.

“We can see how good he is.”

The Verdict:

Clarke will have been delighted to have made his debut for the club in front of the Elland Road crowd.

Although he did not have too many opportunities to make an impression on the match, he obviously did enough for Bielsa to have been pleased.

The teenager will now be looking to push on after getting his first taste of senior action and will be trying to push his name into contention more often.
