Marcelo Bielsa reveals Jack Clarke to play for Leeds’ Under-23s ahead of Sheffield United clash

All eyes at Leeds United will be on their match against Sheffield United on Saturday in a game that could provide them with the perfect opportunity to win promotion to the Premier League via the playoffs.

There will be no doubt that Marcelo Bielsa will be meticulous with his plans ahead of the meeting at the weekend and it appears he may have a rather major boost ahead of the game if all things work out.

What’s the News?

Speaking in his pre-match press conference (via Leeds Live) Bielsa revealed that Jack Clarke would be playing for the club’s Under-23’s on Thursday (against Fulham) and could be in contention for the game against the Blades at the weekend.

“He is going to play today,” he said. “We’ll see how he assimilates the game and I’ll take a decision after that.”

The Verdict:

The news that Clarke could be available for the game against Sheffield United will be hugely encouraging and could provide Leeds with an added edge to get past their fierce Yorkshire rivals on Saturday.

The teenager has played a significant role in helping the Whites be where they are in the Championship table and his latest injury had come as a blow to the club following the medical assistance he required during the draw with Middlesborough.

The winger has shown glimpses of the quality he has in a number of games in the earlier stages of the season – which led to some of England’s biggest clubs taking an alleged interest in him – and his performances will certainly be something Leeds will benefit from once again if he manages to hit the ground running.

There will always be a doubt when a player makes their return for the developmental side though, with the possibility of an injury occurring and potentially creating havoc with any plans that may have been made.

But, should Clarke be able to get through the match on Thursday unscathed, then there is likely to be a very good chance that he will have a role to play on Saturday.

Leeds fans, what do you make of the news regarding Clarke? Do you think he will play a role for the club on Saturday? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
