According to The Mail Online, West Brom are interested in signing Cardiff striker Ibrahim Meite in January.

The Englishman is yet to feature for The Bluebirds this season, and will obviously want to force a move away in order to get more game time.

The thing is, most West Brom fans would not think that the club need a new striker in particular. They already have Jay Ridriguez, Dwight Gayle and Hal Robson-Kanu, all of whom are playing exceptionally well this season. With the additional prospect of Harvey Barnes playing as a striker, they look very well resourced in this department.

However, this interest in the 22-year-old from the Welsh capital may be an indication of the things that are to come. Rumours have already emerged that Rodriguez may be snapped up by a Premier League club in January, as well as talk of Harvey Barnes returning to parent club Leicester in the new year. The Baggies may be revealing more than they wanted to by showing this interested; that one, or even both, of their stars may be leaving The Hawthorns in January.

Of course, with West Brom in the top six, there is a chance that neither would be leaving. But then it would make this move slightly odd from a club that are pushed financially at the moment, and probably have other, more urgent, areas that need addressing with regards to transfers. West Brom fans will just hope that this is simply a case of increasing their strength in depth.
