Marcelo Bielsa appears to have already got his methods and plans for Leeds United working to a high standard.

The Whites are currently in and amongst those at the top of the Championship table, having spent the majority of the season so far sitting at the summit of the division.

Bielsa, who was considered a coup in the summer, looks to have turned the club’s fortunes around and has got the team playing the kind of football that their fans have wanted to see for a long time at Elland Road.

However, there was a chance that he may have not been in Yorkshire for long, as Mexico came calling for him once the World Cup had finished when Juan Carlos Osorio departed.

Although the Argentine rejected their advances, it appears he still gave them the help in their quest for a new manager.

According to Futebol Latino, Bielsa was asked to offer the Mexico national side some assistance in finding their new successor and pointed them in the direction of Tata Martino, who looks likely to be appointed in the near future, after helping them to expedite negotiations.

The Verdict:

Bielsa has earned a lot of respect from all areas of the game for his managerial ability and it should not be considered a surprise that his opinions and advice are considered valuable.

Leeds will have been delighted that he rejected advances from Mexico previously and will want to see their team continue to benefit from the huge amounts of experience he has as they look to make a long-awaited return to the Premier League.

The Elland Road outfit will travel to Ewood Park and take on Blackburn Rovers on Saturday lunch-time and will look to put pressure on the rest of their promotion rivals by taking the three points in the first game of the day.
