Monk has three unavailable for Bolton trip

Birmingham City will be looking to build on last Friday’s result against Swansea City when they face Bolton Wanderers on Wednesday.

The Blues managed to take a draw against the Swans at St. Andrew’s and Garry Monk could be set to stick with that same side for the clash against the Trotters at the DW Stadium, according to a match preview by Sky Sports.

Craig Gardner will remain absent as he continues to serve his suspension, with this being the third of his three-match ban. Younger brother Gary is thought to continue to fill in for him in the centre of midfield.

David Davis remains unavailable with an ankle problem, whilst Isaac Vassell also continues to sit out with a knee problem, however, Monk does not have any other injury concerns heading into Wednesday’s fixture.

Charlie Lakin and Che Adams are thought to be a number of players pushing for a start against Bolton after they both came off the bench during their draw with Swansea on Friday.

The Verdict:

Birmingham will be looking to improve quickly, however, a test against Bolton could be difficult for Monk’s side to overcome.

The Trotters are yet to taste defeat in the Championship, whilst the Blues have only managed to take two points from their opening three games so far.

However, Birmingham have performed a lot better than the two points suggest and Monk will be hoping they can finally take all three when Bolton come to town.
