‘More pointless words’ – Leeds United fans on Twitter not happy despite fan-favourite’s comments

Leeds United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to some very frank comments from Swedish defender Pontus Jansson. A story by Phil Hay in the Yorkshire Evening Post claims that Jansson is “ashamed” of the club’s form since the turn of the year and said the cub’s payers are under pressure to “show balls.”

A Eunan O’Kane own-goal levelled the scores at 2-2 just two minutes after Pablo Hernandez had put Leeds 2-1 at the Madejski Stadium. Leeds fans would’ve been hoping their side could bounce back from successive 3-0 defeats at Middlesbrough and Wolves with a win but despite their dominance, could only muster a draw against Jaap Stam’s Reading.

The Whites are currently suffering their 8th straight season in the Championship after narrowly missing out on a play-off place last season. The club’s eight-year stay in England’s second tier is set to be extended, as early season ambitions for a top-six spot have tailed off into the New Year. Paul Heckingbottom’s side now sit eleven points off of 6th place Middlesbrough and with just nine games remaining and fans aren’t holding out hope for promotion this year.
