Derby County fans here in the Tavern are still gutted that their side didn’t manage to secure promotion this season, as they failed to keep Fulham at bay in the Championship play-offs.
Frank Lampard will be looking to make his mark on the managerial scene after being appointed as Derby County’s new manager recently, with many of our local residents expecting a promotion push.
Of course, the summer transfer window will be of huge importance to the Rams after struggling to ensure consistency at times during the second half of the campaign. So, Lampard will need to ring in the changes this summer, with a number of younger players possibly being added to what is an ageing squad.
Therefore, Melvyn Morris needs to tell the newly-appointed Frank Lampard to scout a couple of promising players at the World Cup later on this month, as the Rams are in desperate need of some added quality.
So without further ado, Morris should be telling Lampard to scout these TWO World Cup stars…
The Leicester City forward struggled to break into the starting lineup this season as Jamie Vardy and Kelechi Iheanacho pushed him down the pecking order at the King Power Stadium.
However, there’s no doubt that the 32-year-old can score goals if you provide him with the opportunity, having found the back of the net on seven occasions in the campaign just gone.
Interestingly, Shinji Okazaki was named in Japan’s 23-man squad for the World Cup later on this month.
So, with the Rams possibly losing Matej Vydra this summer, Frank Lampard will need to dip into the transfer market for a forward, with Okazaki being a suitable replacement.
The former Everton left-back was one of Sunderland’s standout performers this season as he did his best to help The Black Cats avoid relegation, but not even his efforts were good enough.
However, he was still named in Costa Rica’s 23-man squad for the World Cup later on this month, so he’ll be looking to put in a number of accomplished performances to force a move away this summer.
And, with Derby County possibly looking for a new left-back after chopping and changing between Craig Forsyth and Chris Baird, perhaps Lampard should look to bring the experienced Bryan Oviedo to Pride Park.
