Leeds United supporters were drowning their sorrows in the Transfer Tavern last night after seeing the Yorkshire giants lose 2-1 at home to Derby County in the Championship, thus suffering a fifth defeat in their last six league matches.
Thomas Christiansen’s men went into their clash with the Rams off the back of losing 2-1 to Sheffield United on Friday night, yet they looked on course to bounce straight back when Pierre Michel Lasogga gave them a seventh minute lead at Elland Road. However, they were to be denied an eighth league victory of the campaign as two Sam Winnall goals in the second half, the latter of which coming from the penalty spot, sealed the win for Gary Rowett’s side, and in turn moved them above Leeds into fifth place in the Championship table.
For our resident Whites supporters though, concern is growing given their team’s recent poor run of form, with Christiansen’s men now having lost each of their last three games at Elland Road, and having picked up just six points from their last eight league matches.
Thus, many of those Leeds fans lining up at the bar were severely critical of their side’s display on Tuesday night, and one man in particular came under heavy fire on Twitter following the clash, namely defender Luke Ayling.
The 26-year-old has been a consistent performer for Leeds since moving to Elland Road back in 2016 but has endured a tricky few weeks on the field, with the right-back’s positioning for goals in games against Reading, Sheffield United, and now Derby called into question.
And, as such, several Leeds fans took to Twitter to hammer the Englishman for his efforts on Tuesday night…
Luke Ayling looks half as good as he actually is. He looks knackered. Our squad is too small. We just aren’t good enough. #LUFC

Luke Ayling for the first goal just ran forward 15 yards for no reason. Did same against Reading/Sheff Utd. Cost us 3 of last 4 goals. #lufc

I dont understand why Ayling just ran out of his position for the first goal and makes no effort to get back. Not good enough. #lufc
