The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern are happy to have seen their team survive another season in the Premier League but they’re fully aware that they still need new players desperately.
It’s been a real revival in form for the Magpies, form that shows some of the best in the Premier League, which is mainly thanks to the manager Rafa Benitez.
The striker department will have to be one carefully examined this summer after struggling all season long to find the perfect man who can fulfil the fans hopes and dreams. One player who certainly has the ability to do just that is Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge, a player valued at £18.00 million on Transfermarkt. The 28-year-old has been so unlucky with injuries over the past few seasons as he’s gone from Liverpool’s best finisher to continuously being stuck on the sideline.
It’s a real shame because on his day, Sturridge is easily one of England’s best strikers but he just can’t stay fit. If Newcastle were to take a punt on him, it would be very risky but a move that could be rewarded greatly should he stay fit and bang in the goals. He was limited to just 18 games all season long this campaign and whilst going to West Brom in January to try and recover his form, after a matter of games he was ruled out for the remainder of the season.
It would be fair to say that not many teams would be cueing up to sign him this summer but Newcastle could potentially bag themselves a bargain if he could stay fit and perform to the ability he’s shown on many occasions.
