Newcastle should reunite this £3.6m-rated forward with Rafa Benitez

There is a divided opinion within the Newcastle fans at the Transfer Tavern. Due to their lack of goals this season, the Magpies are desperate to find a solution to their crisis this summer but who that may be is causing quite a bit of debate.

Us punters around the bar suggest the signing of Fernando Torres, who is valued at £3.60 million on Transfermarkt. Although it maybe deemed as a waste of wages given that the striker is now 34-year-old, Torres is the type of player who will never lose his quality.

Torres and Benitez will be well familiar with each other having worked together when at Liverpool. During this time, Fernando Torres was at the peak of his game and was easily regarded as one of the top strikers in the world. Now though, Torres is struggling for game time at his beloved Atletico Madrid but has scored 7 goals this season despite his tender age.

Newcastle have a distinct lack of quality in attack and bringing Fernando Torres to St James’ Park on a free his summer shouldn’t be a bad thing in our eyes. Even if it doesn’t work out, the younger Magpie players will be able to learn from a top professional who is still keen to give his all for a club.

Fernando Torres and Rafa Benitez built a brilliant relationship together which has the potential to blossom once more if they reunite. The Spaniard still has the ability in front of goal and Newcastle need someone in their team who can score goals, so it should create the perfect match.
