Newcastle United swoop to sign promising young Everton centre-back

Newcastle United have enjoyed a strong season in the Championship this year and there’s hope here amongst supporters in the Tavern that Rafa Benitez will be able to guide his team back to the Premier League before the campaign is out!

Toon fans have been patient with the team despite some blips along the way this year and following Brighton’s promotion last week, the pressure is on the Magpies to join them over the coming weeks.

And Rafa Benitez’s summer plans have taken a boost this weekend as they brougt in Everton defender Josef Yarney on trial. The 19-year-old centre-back is set to leave Goodison Park at the end of the season when his contract expires and according to the Chronicle, the Toon are thought to be keen to add Yarney to their U23 set-up if he impresses during the trial.

Yarney failed to make an appearance for the Everton first-team during his time at Goodison Park but could be set to make the switch to Tyneside this summer, much to the delight of the Toon punters here in the bar, who are glad to see the summer recruitment starting already.
