The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern remain hopeful that manager Rafa Benitez will stay and continue the hard work he has already conducted with the club thus far.
The Spaniard was a massive factor behind Newcastle staying up this season, something that was a terrific achievement without needing masses of money to do so. Having shown what he is capable of, Mike Ashley now needs to stump up funds for Benitez to get the signing he requires to keep progressing at St James’ Park. One player who springs to mind that could be a good signing for Newcastle is Everton’s Davy Klaassen, who is valued at £16.2 million on Transfermarkt.
The Dutchman only moved to Goodison Park last season but his career has been on a steep decline ever since. After moving from Ajax where he performed terrifically well, scoring 20 goals and assisting 12 times for his team-mates in the 2016/17 season, everyone predicted he would be a success for the Toffees.
To be honest, it wasn’t just Klaassen because all Everton players haven’t been great this season but after only featuring in 17 games this season, the 25-year-old is still yet to register a single goal for his new club.
Newcastle, however, are looking to strengthen their side next season and if a deal was possible, Klaassen could move to St James’ Park in order to prove he isn’t another flop to arrive in England. After all, scoring that many goals in a single season, being former-captain of Ajax, surely means that Davy Klaassen still has talent to uncover.
