After the news broke yesterday that Nottingham Forest have signed Greek midfielder Panagiotis Tachtsidis from Olympiacos, there wasn’t the greatest reception.
Fans took to Twitter to lambast the club for the new signing, believing the club already had an abundance of midfielders, and this was just unnecessary. The supporters also highlighted the lack of strikers as their biggest problem, saying the club should have targeted that position.
In light of this response to the new signing, we asked you whether you thought Tachtsidis would start for The Reds. This is what you said:
Interestingly, there was a complete 50/50 split between fans as to whether the Greek international would start or not.
On one hand, half of the fans believe that the passing range and vision of the former Olympiacos man will earn him a starting berth, while the other half probably think that his poor athleticism will mean he won’t make the grade at The City Ground.
However, it must be said that manager Aitor Karanka will have a job on his hands trying to fit the new man in amongst current defensive midfielders Adlène Guedioura, Jack Colback, Ben Watson and Liam Bridcutt.
As the season progresses we will find out which half of the Forest fans were right.
