Nottingham Forest fans demand Karanka picks Hefele after Newcastle performance

Nottingham Forest fans have taken to Twitter to call for Wednesday’s Man of the Match, Michael Hefele, to start for The Reds on Saturday. 

Aitor Karanka’s men beat Premier League side Newcastle at The City Ground 3-1, with many players putting in their best performance of the season. But the German centre-back beat everyone to the Man of the Match award, and fans are going wild about him.

The 6ft 4 defender moved from Huddersfield this summer, and has struggled for game time thus far under Karanka. Hefele (valued at £1.35m on Transfermarkt.co.uk) has been behind Tobias Figueiredo in the Forest pecking order so far this season, but fans now want the German to take the Portuguese’s place.

These sort of games are the perfect platform for fringe players to put their hand up for selection, and the strong and commanding performance by the centre-back will surely give Karanka something to think about when The Reds head to Brentford on Saturday.
