Nottingham Forest fans in the Transfer Tavern are eagerly awaiting the end of the season so their transfer plans can get underway.
Aitor Karanka is expected, by our punters, to overhaul his squad when the window reopens in a few months with plenty of names being linked with a move to the City Ground. Indeed, high on his priority list should be a goalkeeper once the season ends as the Reds look to finally make a go of promotion.
Current number one, Costel Pantilimon will return to Watford at the end of the season following the completion of his loan spell and the 31-year-old needs to be replaced. Though fans were excited upon his arrival, the former Manchester City man has failed to live up to expectations.
With that in mind, Karanka should make Everton goalkeeper, Joel Robles, his number one target this summer. The Spaniard is out of contract in June, therefore, will be available for nothing; freeing up funds for other targets.
Sam Allardyce wants to keep the keeper at Goodison Park but admitted the goalkeeper wants out and will leave when his current deal expires. He is valued at £4.5m by Transfermarkt and would represent a major coup at the City Ground in a summer window they need to use to seriously improve.
Still only 27-years-old, Robles has Premier League experience that would be valuable as the Reds look to push for promotion next year. He would instantly take the number one jersey at Forest, and no transfer fee puts no real pressure on his head. The money saved will allow Karanka to pursue other targets to strengthen his squad further and push Forest up the table.
Nottingham Forest fans, would Robles be a good number one? Let us know!
