Our Nottingham Forest fans here in the Transfer Tavern are seriously looking forward to their side doing well this season as they are certain that the signs are there to suggest that is what is going to happen.
The men from the City Ground have been busy over the summer and have a decent enough looking squad but, ultimately, the proof is in the pudding when it comes to results on the pitch.
Mark Warburton, though, appears to have a decent idea of what he wants from his side when they play Millwall on the opening day – and that could involve a back-three – as per The Nottingham Post – thanks to injuries and absentees.
The back-three has become rather vogue in English football thanks to the success it yielded for Chelsea last season under Antonio Conte.
Indeed, teams like Tottenham and Arsenal also implemented the system during the previous campaign and we should expect plenty of other sides to adopt it in the coming season.
Whether Forest revert to a back-four once they have players back fit remains to be seen but a back-three could just get them off on the right foot against Millwall and, in that case, it could be there to stay.
Forest fans will certainly hope for a season similar to Chelsea at least.
