Pablo Hernandez says promotion with Leeds would be his ‘best achievement’ - Championship

Automatic promotion to the Premier League is within Leeds United’s grasps and they will know more than anybody that they can not afford any more slip-ups as we head into the final stretch of the campaign. It’s been 15 long years since top-flight football was played at Elland Road and many have been patient in their quest to make their long-awaited return.

And, one of the club’s current stars has revealed just how much it would mean to him on a personal level if Leeds were to finally achieve the feat.

What’s the News?

According to FourFourTwo magazine (via Sport Witness), Pablo Hernandez has stated that it would be the ‘best achievement of my career’.

“It has been really positive,” he said. “All around the club, there’s been excitement to end 15 years away from the Premier League. It feels so close. This city deserves a Premier League team. It’d be the best achievement of my career if we go up.”

The Verdict:

Hernandez has been an extremely important member of Marcelo Bielsa’s squad this season and has played a significant role in helping the Whites be within a chance of securing promotion to the Premier League.

Having recently been named the second best player in the EFL, Hernandez has been really consistent and has shone when the bright lights have been on him.

The Spaniard has proved he can be a deadly attacking threat and offers Bielsa plenty of versatility in the middle of the field as he is more than capable of playing on either wing or in the middle.

The 33-year-old has been in fine form in the final third of the pitch, as he has scored ten goals and provided 11 assists across all competitions so far, whilst he has been equally important as in helping the first-team to come to terms with the philosophy that the Argentine has looked to implement, having played at a number of clubs in the past that adopts the same approach.

However, he will now need to be at his very best for the remaining few games of the season if they are to have any chance of winning promotion to the Premier League without having to use the play-off system.
