Patrick Bamford makes start in Under-23 game and nets hat-trick

It is no secret that Leeds United have been hit with a number of injury concerns this season.

Marcelo Bielsa has seen a number of his stars be struck down with time on the sidelines throughout the duration of the current campaign, however, they managed to get through those issues and remain within touching distance at the top of the Championship.

And, it appears as though the Whites could have some great news starting to emerge as they head into the festive period, per the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The Leeds Under-23s were in action on Monday afternoon against Burnley and managed to win 6-3, with one man stealing the show.

Patrick Bamford was given his first start since his serious knee injury that ruled him out since September and managed to net a hat-trick beyond Tom Heaton – a goalkeeper that they have previously been linked with a move for.

The Verdict:

Leeds will have been delighted to see Bamford back in action and looking extremely sharp in his first start for a significant period of time.

Although he has not been completely missed in the first-team, with Kemar Roofe putting in a number of solid performances, his return will be at a timely time for Bielsa and his side.

It remains to be seen if he will be involved in their game against Bolton Wanderers at the weekend, or if he will continue to work on his fitness and not be rushed back into the senior fold.
