According to The Birmingham Mail, fringe Birmingham City defender Marc Roberts has praised the impression that Garry Monk is having on the team.

The 28-year-old, who has only featured for The Blues three times this season, says that the former Swansea player has his team playing "100 miles per hour".

Roberts credits his teammates for buying into Monk's system, and now they are reaping the rewards. Of course, it did not look so rosy for The Blues at the earlier stages of the season, as the club were struggling for wins. Although they weren't losing a lot, only drawing, they were still towards the lower end of the Championship table.

However, the team are now unbeaten in 11 games, and on a four match winning streak, which has seen them climb to ninth in the league, only two points from sixth place.

With the whole squad pulling together for Monk, this is very promising for the remainder of the season, as the manager clearly has his team operating the way he would like. On current form, there is no reason why Birmingham fans cannot hope for the best from their team this season, as they continue to rocket up the table.

The danger for any manager is having a squad that are unwilling to accept a new system or style. This will result in poor performances and fractures within the club. However, if the cohesion within the squad is as good as Roberts is alluding to, this can be seen as Monk's greatest triumph this season, and the leading reason for success.
