Portsmouth team news: Kenny Jackett could give duo chance to impress

Portsmouth will be looking to get back to winning ways on Tuesday night when they head to the Checkatrade.com Stadium to take on Crawley Town.

The Fratton Park outfit will book their place in the next round of the Checkatrade Trophy with a victory against the League Two side.

Kenny Jackett wants to see his team going as far as possible in the competition, despite focusing on getting promotion to the Championship.

And, according to the club’s official website, the manager could use the game as an ideal chance to give a duo their first chance of the season.

Dion Donohue and Louis Dennis are yet to make an appearance for Pompey and Jackett believes this game could be a great opportunity for them.

“This particular game gives us a chance to use some of the fringe players and, if possible, any promising youngsters who are coming through,” he said.

However, David Wheeler will be absent for the game after he picked up a knock in their defeat to Gillingham at the weekend.

Ronan Curtis is also unavailable for selection over the coming week as he is on international duty with the Republic of Ireland after his impressive performances in League One.

The Verdict:

Portsmouth will be looking to return to winning ways against Crawley and book their place in the next round of the competition.

Donohue and Dennis will be looking to make an impression should they get the chance to feature for the first time this season.

Wheeler could be a big miss for Pompey, especially considering that Ronan Curtis is away on international duty this week.
