The Derby County fans are gathered at the bar supping a few pints in The Transfer Tavern this evening and discussing a dual role which will be carried out by their new director of football.
The Sun is reporting that as well as helping out Darren Wassall at Derby County, Harry Redknapp will coach Jordan in their World Cup qualifiers.
Redknapp will leave the East Midlands immediately following his club’s derby against fierce rivals Nottingham Forest to head for the Middle East to take control of the countries two World Cup qualifiers.
The experienced manager is close friends with the head of Jordanian football but the news will still come as a surprise to many. Speaking about his dual role, Redknapp said:
“It’s going to be a tough couple of weeks that’s for sure. I’m friends with Prince Ali and wanted him to take over from Sepp Blatter. He asked me if I’d manage the team for a couple of matches and I agreed.”
“I’ll go to the Forest game and then go straight to London and fly to Jordan. It’s a busy time but I’ve missed the buzz of being involved in football.”
The Derby fans in The Tavern are not overly concerned by the dual role Redknapp has taken and welcome his added experience to Pride Park.
