Darren Moore is set to face one of the most unenviable tasks in football next season by trying to pull off one a notoriously difficult feat: returning to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

The consequences of relegation generally continue well into the following season, with high-profile departures and a busier fixture list often proving too much for club's to handle. However, the Baggies do not hold the undisputed title of English football's most recognisable yo-yo club for no reason, and their previous experience will hold them in good stead to mount a promotion push next season.

Darren Moore has made a handful of excellent decisions in the transfer market so far: replacing Ben Foster with Sam Johnstone was an incredibly shrewd deal whilst the move to bring Kyle Bartley to the club was well-needed following Jonny Evans' departure.

But Moore will need to add further quality to his options at centre-back if his side wish to hold their own in the gruelling 2nd tier of English football next season, as the long, arduous season will inevitably take its toll.

With Ahmed Hegazy, Craig Dawson and Bartley the only two recognised senior centre-backs at the club, Moore would be foolish not to offer Robert Huth a contract this summer.

Leicester City released Huth at the end of his contract this summer following a 3-year stint in which he played a starring role in the Foxes' shock title victory during the 2015/16 season - Huth's debut campaign with the club.

At the heart of defence Huth resembled an unmovable man-mountain who consistently towered above his opponents to win aerial duels, made game-changing blocks and generally led by example throughout the entirety of that campaign.

The big German slipped under the radar during his final season with the club as he failed to break back into the first-team following a serious injury which ruled him out of contention before the turn of the year.

But now that Huth has recovered and is available to sign on a free transfer, Moore would be foolish not to take a punt on the 33-year-old this summer as his experience in English football and obvious defensive quality would make him a valuable member of the squad in their bid for promotion.

Time is running out for West Brom to bolster their options ahead of the new season, so they should make a move for Huth as soon as possible whilst he remains a free agent.
