‘Rough diamonds’ – Leeds United fans delighted on Twitter as U18 side give them reason to cheer

The Leeds United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to their club’s U18 side as they thrashed QPR 5-0 yesterday. The fans will be pleased to hear the good news as the young Whites have finally given the Elland Road something to celebrate, after a horrible start to 2018 from the first team.

Leeds United are in the middle of a tough run at the moment. The club finds themselves 14th in the second tier of English football and a whopping 12 points off of the playoffs, despite finding themselves top of the Championship for two weeks in September. The awful run of form in 2018 has been a major factor in this though, as the club has only recorded one win since the turn of the year.

Leeds had a chance to turn things around on Saturday as they hosted a struggling Sheffield Wednesday. The sides looked set to go home with a point each, following Jay-Roy Grot’s 86th-minute equaliser. However, it wasn’t to be for the Whites as Atdhe Nuhiu scored his, and Wednesday’s, second goal of the game in the 91st-minute to ensure the visitors would be taking all three points back to Sheffield with them.
