Sheffield Wednesday have been dealt a huge blow ahead of their South Yorkshire derby with Rotherham United on Saturday.
The 28-year-old was forced to leave the game against Blackburn Rovers early with a torn hamstring, which will now mean he will miss around a further six weeks of an injury-hit campaign.
Forestieri, who is valued at £6.3million by Transfermarkt, has had a difficult season for the Owls this year and has only been able to make seven starts all season.
The attacker’s injury is just another injury setback that Sheffield Wednesday have had to deal with this season and it certainly does not come at an ideal time.
Jos Luhukay’s side have missed the Argentine-born attacker’s presence in the team and his latest setback will come as a huge blow to them over the busy festive period.
The pressure is thought to be mounting on the Dutchman at Hillsborough as results have been far from what is expected.
A win against Rotherham could help to ease that pressure, however, a defeat to their South Yorkshire rivals will leave them in a precarious position within the Championship.
