Our Sheffield Wednesday fans here in the Transfer Tavern are gearing up for another vital game today as they host Cardiff in the Championship.
There’s very little left in terms of games in the second tier now and the play-off race is looking as tight and competitive as ever with the Owls far from assured of being in the top six come the end of the regular season.
Every point matters, then, for Carlos Carvalhal and his men and it seems as though the club are doing all they can to make sure their squad is as strong as possible past this season and into the future.
That’s how it appears, anyway, if you take The Sheffield Star’s latest report into account concerning George Hirst.
The young England U18 international is a hugely rated player and could be a real star for the future – one the Owls would obviously want to keep.
And, as quoted by The Star, owner Dejphon Chansiri said at a supporters forum when asked about his future: “We try to keep all our good players.”
Indeed, the report believes talks have been held over a new contract between club and player and so this one could be going through soon.
