Sheffield Wednesday have key players unavailable

Sheffield Wednesday will be preparing for a home clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the League Cup, although they will be without a number of players for the game.

The Owls have started to turn things around recently and Jos Luhukay has seen his side start to build a run of positive results.

However, they will come up against a side that held Premier League Champions Manchester City to a point and will be looking for a strong competition showing of their own.

And, according to a match preview by Sky Sports, Luhukay will be without a number of key players for the visit.

Gary Hooper is not expected to be rushed back from his hip injury, despite returning to full training, whilst Sam Winnall and Kieran Lee both remain on the sidelines with long-term problems.

It is unknown whether Steven Fletcher will feature for the Owls as he works his way back to fitness, although Fraser Preston could make a return to the first-team.

The teenager impressed for the Luhukay’s side in last Wednesday’s win against Millwall, although he was left out of the victory over Ipswich Town at the weekend.

The Verdict:

Wolves will probably prove to be too difficult for Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night, however, the League Cup can cause a few surprises.

Wednesday have started to pick up a few positive results recently, however, Wolves have also get off to a positive start in the Premier League.

With the absences that Luhukay has, the Owls will be better off focusing their efforts on their Championship campaign and looking to do as well as they can as the season progresses.
