Sheffield Wednesday team news: Barry Bannan back in contention

Sheffield Wednesday will be looking to get back to winning ways when they meet Bristol City at Ashton Gate on Sunday.

The Owls have been held to two successive draws as they extended their unbeaten run of league games to eight.

Jos Luhukay’s side managed to hold both Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion to a point apiece and will have taken confidence from those games as they head to the west country.

And, according to a match preview by the club’s official website, they will be able to call upon one man the manager felt they had missed during their game against the Baggies.

Barry Bannan is available for selection once again as he completed his one-game suspension in midweek after he picked up his fifth yellow card of the season against Leeds.

Luhukay had felt after the game that the Scotland international would have offered them something different if he had been in the team and would have had a direct influence on the result.

Josh Onomah is also available, despite having had to come off in the game against the Baggies with a minor knock.

The Verdict:

Luhukay will be pleased to have the duo available for Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday.

The Owls will be confident they can follow up on their impressive run with a victory against a side that are currently winless in their last four fixtures.

Bannan has been highly influential for the Hillsborough outfit and is extremely important to the side and Wednesday will be hoping he can be the difference for them at Ashton Gate.
