Sheffield Wednesday will want to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat to Hull City in the Championship when they host Wigan Athletic at Hillsborough on Saturday.
The Owls, who managed to defeat Luton Town in their FA Cup replay in midweek to earn a fourth round tie against Chelsea, have started to turn things around.
Steve Bruce’s side had managed to two wins and two draws prior to the loss against The Tigers as they started to climb away from trouble.
Wigan have been struggling themselves this season, but they did beat Aston Villa last time out and will be keen to build on that momentum.
However, Steve Agnew – who has been taking charge until Bruce arrives – has revealed that the hosts have some encouraging news heading into the game.
According to the club’s official website, Kieren Westwood, Sam Hutchinson and Lucas Joao are all in contention to make their returns.
Westwood and Hutchinson had both missed the FA Cup clash through injury, whilst Joao has been sidelined since Boxing Day.
The trio’s potential return will be encouraging news for Sheffield Wednesday as they look to return to winning ways in the Championship.
Westwood has played a key role since coming back into the side and replacing Cameron Dawson in the first-team.
Joao’s return will also be timely, especially given that Fernando Forestieri is not quite ready to make his own return from a hamstring injury just yet.
