Sheffield Wednesday to sweat on Fernando Forestieri outcome

Sheffield Wednesday will be sweating on a decision that could be made by the Football Association in the imminent future regarding one of their key players.

According to a report by The Star, Fernando Forestieri could be hit with a ban following an incident that happened during the Owls’ pre-season clash with Mansfield Town in July.

The attacker allegedly threw a punch towards Calum Butcher after the final whistle in what proved to be a match that saw tempers boil.

The incident sparked a mass brawl between almost all of the players and now the 28-year-old could receive a suspension and possible fine for his role.

It is understood the FA are set to meet imminently to discuss the situation and Sheffield Wednesday will be hopeful no ban is handed down.

The Owls have started their season in the Championship in a positive fashion and Forestieri will be key to ensuring Jos Luhukay’s side continue that form, despite having been a substitute in their last three outings.

The Verdict:

Sheffield Wednesday will not find the ban to be timely, should Forestieri receive one from the FA for the incident back in July.

The £6.3million-rated attacker, as per Transfermarkt, has been fairly controversial during his time at Hillsborough Stadium, but there is no doubt the Owls will be better off with him being available.

It is not yet known how long a suspension could be, should one be handed out, however, he could miss a number of key games for Luhukay’s side as they look to return from the international break with the same performances prior to it.
