Marcelo Bielsa has got the team playing, but it will come at a price for those less worthy of the squad.
Leeds United took another step towards promotion with their 2-0 victory over bottom side Ipswich Town on Wednesday night.
There’s very few negatives that could be said of Bielsa’s Leeds side. Every player looks like they’re ready to give it their all for the badge – blood, sweat, and tears.
Due to the rise in quality this season, players who are falling behind in performances are really starting to show. And, with Bielsa striking us as a no-nonsense kind of guy, it will come as no surprise when they’re moved on at the earliest opportunity to make way for some new faces.
Ibai Gomez has already been linked to the club by Goal for a summer transfer away from current side Alves, and that’s looking all the more likely as Leeds push on for a place in the Premier League.
With that all but secured, here are two players whose moves in January could predispose Leeds’ bid for promotion and more transfers next year…
One name you wouldn’t have placed in the Leeds United team is Mr. Samir Nasri, but here he is being mentioned by Hull Daily Mail.
Nasri wouldn’t be the first player that’s scaled almost every top European league before touching down in West Yorkshire. Pablo Hernandez has taken a very similar route, and he’s now one of Leeds’ most gifted players.
There’s no solid link as of yet, but Nasri will undoubtedly be keen on getting his career back on track after a lengthy drugs ban, which is due to expire in the coming months. Also, Nasri was full of praise for Marcelo Bielsa in an interview with ESPN so maybe his admiration will have a part to play in this transfer saga…
This transfer could be eased by Bielsa’s relationship with Pep Guardiola who considers the Argentine to be the best in the world.
The signing of Zinchenko would address some of the more pressing issues in the Leeds defensive lineup, with Stuart Dallas and Gaetano Berardi ranking as two of the worst performers in the team.
Recent reports from the Daily Mail suggest that the Ukrainian full-back is a step closer to the exit following his omission from the City Champions League squad.
Would be an excellent signing if it came it fruition…
