According to The Birmingham Mail, West Brom are planning a "record-breaking" bid for Blackburn Rovers star Bradley Dack.

In their first season back in the Championship, Dack has been a standout player for Rovers, registering six goals and two assists in only nine appearances so far this season, as the club sit in tenth place in the table.

However, this news does come with some downsides. Amongst the growing rumours that in-form Harvey Barnes could leave The Hawthorns for his parent club Leicester, the interest in Dack (valued at £4.5m on Transfermarkt.co.uk) may be the club preparing to  replace Barnes.

Whilst Dack would be a brilliant replacement for Barnes, it takes the gloss off the news, as it may be a case of one or the other, rather than both playing alongside each other.

On the other hand, if West Brom were to be able to keep hold of the services of Dack and Barnes, behind strikers Jay Rodriguez and Dwight Gayle, this would create the most potent attack in the Championship, and would make the club very hard to beat.

Securing his signature would be a monumental boost to West Brom, and would probably fire them to favourites to win the league. The 24-year-old Dack would not only add quality to the squad, but would allow manager Darren Moore to be more flexible with his formations. Likewise, it would also allow him to rotate players throughout the campaign, which could prove to be crucial as The Baggies seek to win the league.

Moore's men have already scored the most goals in the league, nine more than any other team, and sit very nicely in second place.  The addition of Dack would make the team a goal scoring machine.
